We Made It!

After 36+ hours of travel we arrived in Awassa safe and sound!  The journey was incredibly smooth with absolutely no glitches. We flew on Emirates Airlines which was actually very positive and rather enjoyable. They fed us well and often and, for the first time in a long while,  I was able to read an entire book in one sitting!

After arriving in Addis Abba, we were picked up by Kidest, our hostess extraordinaire.  She had arranged a van and a driver to take us the rest of the way to Awassa.

The five hour drive to Awassa was quite and experience.  Combined with (from my cautious driving experience) seemingly not many driving rules, a driver who was very confident while driving very fast (but, I should add, also driving very well) and many, many obstacles sharing the road (goats, donkeys, cows, camels, horse carts, motorbikes, three wheeled taxis, pedestrians, and bicycles) it was a ride to remember.
